Bean

If the features in TextEdit seem insufficient for you, Bean is considered an excellent alternative for this Mac application.

Bean is a light text processor that allows you to edit a document in a fast and simple way, thanks to its interesting characteristics.

The text formatting options found in Bean are very different. They include line space, kerning, the space before and after a paragraph, first line indent, alignment, bold, etc.

Lists, tables, images and hyperlinks are all other elements that can also be inserted into the document.

In addition, Bean allows you to automatically save the document every certain amount of time (the time lapsed between saving is determined by you). It also has an advanced statistics system that shows the word and character count, and a magnifer tool that allows you to zoom in and out of the preferred view.

Bean is partially compatible to all Word documents. It can also import part of this format, but the exporting is made completely, with images included.
