Behind the Border is the public diary of an immigration law professor on the frontlines of America’s battle over immigration.

I launched Behind the Border just before Donald Trump’s return to the White House in January 2025. I teach immigration law and lead a deportation defense clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada. At least 1 in 20 of my neighbors is undocumented.
