Hello and welcome!

I’m Kelly, and this is my bravalife substack which, as the name suggests, is all about life on the Brava. The Costa Brava, to be precise (in Catalonia, Spain for those not in the know).

And when I say “life”, I mean, in no particular order of importance: food, wine, hiking, culture, scenery, beaches, where to eat/stay/visit, traditions, people, insider tips and much more.

British by birth but Catalan by adoption, I have lived and worked for almost my entire adult life in Catalonia, mainly on the Costa Brava. After almost 20 years in the travel industry, I changed tack with the new millennium to become a translator. I now allay any lingering travel cravings by hiking the mountains, valleys and coastal paths of my adopted country.

As a translator, my medium is words, whether English, Spanish or Catalan. And after 20 years of translating other people’s words (some 20 million of them), I think it’s about time to give free rein to my own words, knowledge and experience and transfer my lifelong passion for this extraordinary region onto the digital page.

I’m also in the process of writing a book about walking the length of the Costa Brava which is a key reason behind my decision to launch this newsletter – to get myself writing to deadline (as the queen of procrastination) and to hopefully build up an eager audience for my book!

Feel free to send your suggestions or comments on my posts, and if you know anyone who might be interested in the newsletter, please send them a link.
