POP STAR
I’ve always been obsessed with the nature of celebrity - the way celebrity provides a level of status and honor that often feels unearned, the way celebrity defines our culture on level that we can only hope to understand the full scope and breadth of. Celebrities live lifestyles that are entirely foreign and entirely fascinating because of it.
The term “pop star” is one that I use as a kind of totem. It’s a reminder to live life as if you have all of the status and influence of a pop star. Then one day you might actually become one. It’s a manifestation of sorts I suppose.
POP STAR B*TCH
POP STAR B*TCH is a weekly newsletter filled with musings on the culture, touching on anything from Gwyneth Paltrow’s incredibly in-home spa to the influence of women like Julia Fox and Anna Delvey on our current moment.
POP STAR B*TCH is my way of figuring the world around me and what interests me through writing.
POP STAR B*TCH is if Joan Didion were a gen z gay boy trying to be funny while writing about pop culture.
THE GEN Z GAY BOY IN QUESTION...
Hi. I’m Bryce Ray. I’m a performer, writer, model, and wannabe icon. On the record, I’d say I’m Lucas Hedges meets Timotheé Chalamet. Off the record, I’m still trying to figure who it is I am and who it is I want to be.
