CtrlOps Cookie Policy

A cookie is a tiny text file a website saves in your browser to remember something, like keeping you logged in or remembering your settings.

Websites also use other browser storage that works in a similar way, called localStorage and sessionStorage. The law treats these the same as cookies, so we cover all of them here and simply call them "cookies" for short.

Our website sets very few traditional cookies of its own. Most of the things we store ourselves are kept in your browser's localStorage, and they are there to make the site work, like keeping you signed in and showing the right currency.

The few actual cookies on the site come from two trusted third parties, and only in the situations described below: Tawk.to (live chat, and only if you turn it on) and Razorpay (payment, and only at checkout). Our Google analytics runs without setting any cookie.

We group everything into four categories. Three of them run for everyone and set no cookies. The one optional category, live chat, is yours to control through our cookie banner.

Google runs privately, always. Our Google tools stay permanently in a "denied" storage state, which means they send anonymous, cookieless signals and set no tracking cookie at all, for any visitor. There is no version of this that stores something on your device, which is why it is not a choice we ask you to make.

Your live chat choice is saved in your browser, and you can change it anytime (see Section 10).

These keep the site working and cannot be switched off. None of these are traditional cookies, they are stored in your browser's localStorage.

Region detection: to show the right currency, our site checks your approximate country using your IP address through a service called ipinfo.io. This happens about once per browser every 30 days.

We use our own Mixpanel project, hosted in the EU, to understand how people use the site and the product so we can make CtrlOps better. It is stored in your browser's localStorage, not in cookies.

What it never includes: your server data, credentials, commands, logs, or files. This is only about how the website and product are used.

Lawful basis: we rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving CtrlOps, using a first-party, privacy-respecting setup with EU data residency.

Your choice: product analytics is always on and is not something you can switch off in cookie settings today. If you would rather not share it, email us at [email protected] and we will turn it off for your account.

We load Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 for every visitor, so we can see how many people reach the site and which campaigns bring them. It runs permanently in Google's denied storage state, which means it sets no cookies at all, stores nothing on your device, and does not identify you. We see counts and trends, not people.

Because nothing is stored or linked to you, there is no cookie to consent to and nothing to switch off. The cookies Google Analytics normally uses (_ga, _ga_*, _gid, _gat*) are never set on our site. If you carry one from an earlier visit, we delete it automatically.

We do not run advertising products, and Google's ad-related signals are switched off permanently, not just until you consent.

Our lawful basis for this cookieless measurement is our legitimate interest in understanding how our site is found and used. No consent is required because no information is stored on or read from your device.

If you allow the Live chat category, we load the Tawk.to chat widget so you can talk to us. It loads a couple of seconds after the page and is hidden on our blog and docs pages.

Anything you type into the chat is handled by Tawk.to under their own terms. If you withdraw consent, we hide the widget and delete its cookies and storage.

When you start a payment, we load the Razorpay checkout. It appears only at that moment, not on normal page views. Razorpay sets its own security and fraud-prevention cookies on its own domain, under Razorpay's cookie policy. This is treated as necessary because it is needed to complete a purchase you asked for.

• YouTube: videos use the privacy-friendly youtube-nocookie mode behind a click-to-play cover. Nothing from YouTube loads until you actually click play.
• Calendly: we link out to it, but do not embed it, so it sets nothing on our site.
• Product Hunt and our CDN: we only use speed-up hints (DNS prefetch), which set no cookies.

• On our site: use the cookie banner or cookie settings to change your choices anytime. Turning a category off deletes the cookies and storage it created.
• In your browser: you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that blocking necessary items may stop parts of the site from working, like staying logged in.

We may update this policy as our site changes. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. Third parties can occasionally change their own cookie names and lifetimes, so treat the third-party details above as a close guide.
