London Listening Sessions began with ideas about music that were too unruly—or too tender—for the pitch desk. Left to ferment, they found a room of their own and became this newsletter: a space for meditations on music that moves me.
The focus is often West African music, approached through a rearview mirror. I trace echoes, lineages, and overlooked inheritances—hence the label, ‘music historian’, though I wear it loosely. LLS is about the present as much as the past: what we’ve received, what we’ve forgotten, and what we’ve failed to honour—by omission or commission.
