About The Blog
I have worked in analytics for 8-9 years. It is frustrating to say the least. Two things stood out for me in all these years -
Analysts spend all their time getting the data, and analyzing it and almost no time on the presentation. But we give presentations all the time. So every few days, we pull our hairs out because all the hard work went above everyone’s head.
Very few people (including analysts) understand data beyond their target metrics. This sucks because there is just so much data out there and people either don’t use it at all, or use it incorrectly. This also makes life difficult for analysts because we have to spend a lot of energy explaining things, repeating things, dumbing them down. Time which could be used for serious discussion on the implications of data.
That’s the inspiration behind this blog - explaining the basic concepts of data in simple words. I aim to do this without getting technical, and with a lot of case studies. I believe that understanding data is a life skill at this point, and if everyone had it, we would all be better off for it.
So if you are someone who wants to get better at dealing with data, but don’t want to become an analyst - follow along!
