For much of my life, I have written most mornings; mainly journaling, some short stories, and many poems. Stream of consciousness for the most part.

But lately, I have been drawn to refine what I put down on paper. To stay with the words longer and honor what spills from my thoughts. I’ve been showing up at online writing workshops and find myself lit up by the sharing of words and the push to attend more deeply to my own work.

And so, I find myself polishing a bit more. Slowing down. Playing with the space on the page until what I really want to say feels clear. To me, at least.

The writing that I love most, though, is writing that feels both elegant and a little bit wild. I think that’s where the beauty lives in most of life, found in the balance between intention and imperfection.

To be honest in my writing is my intention here; to gather the quiet, beautiful, heart- aching pieces of life into a collection of words that feel tended to, yet allowed to run a bit wild as they seek what is true.
