AI Coding Skills

AI Coding Tools

Community-maintained skills, plugins, agents, prompts, and examples for building better software with AI coding tools.

AI Coding Tools is an open-source initiative focused on practical, reusable resources for developers using GitHub Copilot, Grok, Claude Code, and other AI-assisted development platforms.

What We Build

  • Framework-specific application bootstrap skills
  • Platform-specific plugins and instructions
  • Reusable coding agents and prompts
  • Runnable examples and starter projects
  • Testing, modernization, security, and architecture guidance
  • Documentation for using AI coding tools effectively

  • Helidon
  • Jetty
  • Jakarta EE
  • Java testing
  • Application modernization

Repository Structure

The organization uses separate repositories for each AI coding platform because every platform has its own:

  • plugin and skill format
  • metadata requirements
  • directory structure
  • marketplace process
  • commands, agents, hooks, and extension model
  • release and compatibility lifecycle

This allows each project to follow the conventions of its target platform without forcing a shared structure.

Roadmap

Planned areas include:

  • Spring Boot application bootstrap
  • Helidon SE and Helidon MP bootstrap
  • Embedded Jetty applications
  • Apache Tomcat applications
  • Quarkus and Micronaut
  • Java testing and Testcontainers
  • Java application modernization
  • Security and observability
  • GitHub Copilot SDK for Java examples
  • Cross-platform compatibility documentation

Contributing

Contributions are welcome.

You can help by:

  • improving an existing skill
  • adding a framework-specific bootstrap skill
  • creating runnable examples
  • testing skills against supported AI coding tools
  • reporting outdated APIs or generated code
  • improving documentation

Open an issue before starting a large contribution so the scope and target platform can be discussed.

Principles

Projects in this organization should be:

  • practical and runnable
  • aligned with current platform conventions
  • explicit about supported framework and Java versions
  • secure by default
  • tested where possible
  • community-maintained
  • clear about unofficial status
