In the environment settings, make settings related to tracker operation. The Preferences dialog is opened by clicking File→Configuration on the menu bar or clicking the icon on the toolbar.

General

General Settings

Make settings related to tracker behavior and display. Details are displayed in the explanation view when each item is selected.

Edit Settings

  • Page Jump Length - Set the step jump interval for the page jump key.

Wave view

  • Frame rate - Set the frame rate of the wave view.

Note names

  • Notation system - Set the nottion system whether English or German.

Sound

Emulation core

Set the YM2608 emulator to be used.
BambooTracker allows you to choose between three emulations.

  • MAME YM2608
  • Nuked OPN-Mod
  • ymfm

Nuked OPN-Mod is superior in the synthesis accuracy, but MAME YM2608 is faster in the synthesis speed. ymfm has a good synthesis accuracy and speed.

Zero-wait write

Set whether or not to wait for register writes. If you use ymfm emulation, should turn off.

Audio output

API

Set the API used for audio output.

Device

Set the device for audio output.

Real chip interface

Select the interface for playing with real chips. SCCI and C86CTL can be selected. When using SCCI, place scci.dll in the same directory as the tracker, and when using C86CTL, place c86ctl.dll.

MIDI input

Important: If you have a MIDI keyboard and due to the way MIDI drivers are set up, the keyboard can only be used with one music composition program at a time. If you have your keyboard set up with multiple programs, and you attempt to open BambooTracker while the keyboard is being used with another program, you will receive an error. This isn't a bug, and to avoid this issue close the other program first and then open BambooTracker from there.

API

Set the API used for MIDI input.

Device

Set the device for MIDI input.

Sampe Rate

Set the sampling rate of the sound generated by the emulator.

Resampler

Set the resampler used for sampling rate conversion.

  • Linear: The resampler used in v0.5.3 and earlier.
  • blip_buf: The best quality resampler.
  • blip_buf (fast): lower quality than blip_buf, but faster.

Buffer Length

Set the buffer length of the audio output device.

Mixer

The mixer adjusts the sound volume. Set the overall volume with the master volume slider, and adjust the volume of FM and SSG by adjusting the volume slider for each part.

Appearance

Colors

Set the color of each editor item. Color settings (color scheme) can be saved and read as an .ini file.

About the painting layers of each editor

Each editor paint consists of multiple layers. You should select the color setting considering the position of the layer.
The layer structure of each editor is shown below. Layer 1 is the lowest.

Font and size

Specify the font and size of characters used in Pattern Editor and Order List. A monospaced font is recommended for each editor rows.

Formats

FM Envelope Text

You can edit the format (envelope set) specified when reading envelopes from text in FM Instrument Editor. By default, reading of envelope data in the following MML format is registered.

Edit Envelope Set

Reading envelope information from text assigns the number in the text to the specified parameter. The editing of the envelope set determines which parameters are assigned in the order in which this number appears. If you select the type Skip, the number will not be read.
