I use Captura regularly and love it because it's small, portable, and just works. The original Captura was developed by Mathew Sachin, and I'm incredibly grateful for his work creating this excellent tool. While the original project was discontinued, Mr. Chip (mrchipset) did a great job maintaining a fork and keeping it alive.
I forked this repository from mrchipset's version because I actively use this software and want to ensure it continues working smoothly. With the help of Cursor and Claude, I've made some important fixes:
- ✅ Fixed the FFmpeg download window initialization issue
- ✅ Updated FFmpeg download mirrors to ensure reliability
- ✅ Improved build and release workflows
- ✅ Added AMD AMF hardware encoding support (inspired by OBS Studio)
- ✅ Implemented Windows Graphics Capture (WGC) for reliable screen recording (Windows 10 1903+)
This is not an attempt to reboot the project—it's simply maintained by someone who uses and appreciates it. I'll continue to apply fixes as needed (like updating download mirrors or addressing compatibility issues) to keep this wonderful tool working for everyone who relies on it.
