I've had this patch downstream on the input-leap flatpak for flathub for a while now because of restrictions around having files on
$HOMEon the flatpak sandbox and it seems to not compromise the funcioning of input-leap on Linux. I believe this is an improvement over having the config file under$HOMEbecause it both makes it tidier and puts the files on the right place on the xdg spec.
