I'm not adding tests for the ReDOS vulns where the code simply takes a long time to run, because I'm not really sure how to test those reasonably. But an infinite loop, on the other hand, is easy to add a regression test for.
(The test won't actually fail, of course, but crashing your test runner is a good sign that something is wrong!)
