What is Cora? Cora is a metadata-driven generic open repository system designed for managing structured metadata and files. It offers an extensive API that provides access to stored data, definitions, and presentations, allowing for independent client operations.
Goals of Cora APIs - External access to complete records, enable automation of data changes, integration with other systems, support for various clients. Data Maintainability - Simplifies changes to data structures without requiring developers, ensures system changes do not necessitate client updates, maintains easy synchronization with format specifications. System Maintainability - Designed for long-term use, easily extendable with new functionalities, ensures all components are up to date, open source code.
Essentials of Cora REST-API - Provides access to all system functions, allows data access in its stored format with actions, supports functions like search and index, operates statelessly. Metadata-Driven System - Facilitates easy changes to definitions, validates incoming data against definitions, updates machine-readable definitions of the system, supports presentations for generic clients, managed with rights. System Architecture / Code - Data-centric approach, modular and test-friendly, maintains clean architecture and code. Common Format - Supports JSON and XML, uses Cora format and system-specific specifications like DiVA.
