Oh I so need to get that password from @mdboom and yes removing and replacing w/ a link to discourse showcase would be awesome! If you think it'd be useful, I can also write up a template for adding to our TikTok and Instagram. Thinking now discourse might be the perfect submission forum - so something either here or in the intro to the discourse showcase saying "when you add this post to discourse, please note if you give us permission to share it on our other social media accounts, which ones -twitter/Instagram/tiktok-and if so, your handles on those accounts." |

I guess it's better to wordsmith before the PR 😅 |
We're talking here about the Writing Documentation section of the developer's docs, therefore I'd rather remove the Adding animations subsection instead of replacing it by something else. Animations get perfectly well embedded in the documentation by sphinx without the need of linking to youtube. There's already a link to discourse in the Contributing section, so I guess the suggested text would better go into the pinned About the Showcase Category post. |
Oops, yeah 🤦♀️ I updated discourse https://discourse.matplotlib.org/t/about-the-showcase-category/20507 |

Problem
There is just 1 (!) video in the linked channel (added 10 years ago). My understanding is that the Discourse Showcase section would be the right place for such animations?
Suggested improvement
Remove the Adding animations section from the docs.
