I don't have time to complete the checklist below and if it doesn't get done I'll just keep using a local hacked version. But I'm submitting this since other people have seemed interested, so perhaps one of them will be willing to do the tasks listed below. I probably won't have time to respond to comments on this PR (feel free to just close it if you prefer).
