PHP7.4 deprecated nested ternary operators without parens. When getting the example code working, the `update` function's usage of them became problematic. This resolves that.

This fixes an issue in PHP8 (which I noticed in doing some Laravel work). |

I've run into the same issue on PHP8.1. I think this will need to be merged to make the SDK compatible with PHP8. |
