Why subscribe?

An‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ "inverted umbrella" indicates a design that does not protect by warding off. Rather, it opens outward, thus, catching together what would normally fall past each other and drawing them into a shared, albeit unlikely, point of convergence. As a collective creative organisation, it stands for the idea that such an entity refuses the orderly hierarchies or the predictable arrangements. Instead, it is a field where the different threads—ideas, practices, voices, disciplines, temperaments—are allowed to come down independently, only to be caught and held together by some invisible curvature of intent. The inversion is very significant: instead of unifying from above, it lets difference to emerge in its own way, thereby, it is believed that sense will be created through unforeseen combinations, awkward closeness, and the co-existence of things that were never meant to agree.

The things which are gathered are not uniform; the tensions, on the contrary, are still there, even in a productive sense, hence, contrast turns into a method rather than into a problem that has to be solved. The inverted umbrella in this respect is not so much a container as it is a device for chance orchestration, a means of producing the conditions under which the surprising, the marginal, and the incompatible can, for a short time, be together, resonate, and change each other. It is willing to let go of the idea that coherence may be there only if looked at sideways, or belatedly, or only in fragments, and that the most productive connections are usually at the places where no straight line was ever ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌meant.
