Hello, dear one, a warm welcome ~

Hello, dear one — a warm welcome.

As overwhelming as it can be to learn about our global, socio-ecological-cultural crises, please know this: You are not alone in your worry, and you are not alone in your longing for collective healing, transformation, and thriving.

SO much of the status quo needs to be c o m p o s t e d. And it can be a lot to digest!

UPROOTED exists as a space to metabolize the mess together… to slow down, re-orient, and gently stretch how we understand and relate to the world — especially in times that ask for courage, imagination, and care beyond what we’ve been taught.

This moment calls for bold thinking that swims against the current, and for radical imagination that reaches beyond inherited scripts of progress, productivity, and “solutions.”

So I welcome you to join me here on UPROOTED to softly expand your heart and mind through:

  • long-form Green Dreamer podcast conversations I host with organizers, land stewards, artists, and thinkers from many places and traditions; and

  • my own essays and reflections as a fellow traveler trying to make sense of these times with honesty and humility ~

Why subscribe?

Much of what dominates mainstream “sustainability,” “wellness,” and climate discourse is shaped by corporate interests and extractive logics. Years ago, that realization led me to step away from brand-sponsored media and instead build Green Dreamer as a listener-supported podcast — and later, UPROOTED, my reader-supported newsletter!

UPROOTED is where my writing and the podcast’s conversations meet.
Supporting UPROOTED helps to sustain both.

When you subscribe, you’ll receive:

  • twice-monthly Green Dreamer podcast episodes, with selected highlights and framing from me;

  • occasional personal essays and reflections, published when they feel ready.

When you become a supporting subscriber, you also help make possible:

  • my continued independent writing and hosting of Green Dreamer;

  • a slower, more relational media practice rooted in care rather than clicks;

  • access to comment threads, private spaces, and occasional live gatherings;

  • and my deepest gratitude — because reader-supported work keeps alternative voices alive!

Thank you for being here! I’m grateful to explore, question, and imagine alongside you.

About Green Dreamer Kaméa

kaméa is an independent creative, the writer and publisher of UPROOTED, and the creator and podcast host of Green Dreamer — for which she has had the honor of interviewing a diverse range of over 400 community and thought leaders. She also conceived and produced ~ alchemize ~, a 12-week radical imagination program, and her work has been featured in National Geographic, GRIST, Mother Jones, Climate Culture, Refinery29, mindbodygreen, and more.

First germinated and watered in Taiwan with a Hakka-Taiwanese biocultural upbringing that was influenced by Taoist/Buddhist thought and practices of land and ancestral veneration, kaméa roots many of her values in her late grandparents’ lives as land-based subsistence farmers in rural Longtan.

A cultural critic who dreams of “reorienting growth” against dominant tides, she hopes her work moves inner and undercurrents—inspiring expansive curiosity, experimental shapeshifting, and tender love for all.
