Hello, I’m Lin, a landscape photographer living on the edge of an old fishing town on the south coast. Fascinated by old photographs as a child, I bought my first camera in 1980 and have been hooked ever since! Nothing brings me more joy than walking with my camera in the natural environment - whether that’s woodland, coastal, green fields or edgelands where pockets of nature reclaim their space. I am in awe of the beauty of it all!
So, a little about me: I’ve been a therapist for the past thirty years, but this year is a landmark one as I will be retiring this summer to follow a new path, immersing myself in the things I love: photography, walking, nature, Jungian thought, writing and other creative pursuits.
Why ‘Spirit of Place’? Well, apart from my website blog sharing the same name, according to the ‘book of Google,’ the definition of this phrase is “the unique, distinctive, and cherished aspects of place,” which seems fitting for my publication as I strive to express the uniqueness of each landscape through my photography.
Spirit of Place is a space where I hope to share my photo-journal of meanderings between land and sea, my long-term projects and glimpses into my film archive. Alongside brief stories on the images, I will share other thoughts connected to nature, photography and the interests that inspire me creatively.
If any of this sounds of interest to you, please leave a comment on my posts and say hello. If you don’t want to miss any updates, please consider subscribing to stay connected and support my work. It’ll be fun to share this creative journey with you.
