Why subscribe to My Life in the Past?
Hello! I’m Lucy Worsley. My work as a historian takes me to some old and beautiful places, and into some surprising corners of the past. Subscribing means that you can come along too for the ride!
2025 was a bit of a turning point in my life. After 21 years as Chief Curator at the charity Historic Royal Palaces in London, I cleared out my office at Hampton Court to begin new adventures as a historian at large.
In 2026 I’ll be out and about making history shows for the BBC and PBS, and launching a book - QUEENS AND KINGS, AN UNUSUALLY PERSONAL HISTORY - sharing everything I learned over two decades as a royal palace curator.
Every day’s a school-day in my life, and the reason I like my job so much is because I’m endlessly learning new things about the past.
Want to come along? Subscribing costs nothing, you hear from me weekly, and you get some access to archives, including my live video chats with other historians.
Join the gang!
If you’re enjoying what you read, perhaps you’d be kind enough to support my work with a paid subscription. This means you’ll get some extra goodies, including access to the whole archive and our community chat, and the live video chats for paid subscribers only.
And if you want to be a super-swot, join the very tip-top tier of my supporters, the Luciferians, to get a handwritten thank you card from me :)
Whichever way you go, thanks for reading! I appreciate your support.
