About Sarah / Piecemaker

Hello, I’m Sarah; a California transplant who’s been putting down roots in Creston, Iowa, since 2012. A former managing editor and two-time Iowa Newspaper Association Award winner, I now split my time between writing essays, wrangling artists, researching local history, and traveling.

I serve on the Creston Arts board of directors, Creston Historic Preservation Commission, and I’m a proud member of the Iowa Writers Collaborative.

Guided by a personal ethos of building community through creativity, storytelling, and preservation, I use Piecemaker as a space for memoir and midlife meaning-making.
