“I haven't fucked much with the past, but I've fucked plenty with the future.”

Listen, we’re not archivists and we’re not content creators. We’ve never even kept diaries.

Plenty of fine people have figured out ways to make meaning from the curation/documentation of the day-to-day on social media, and god bless ‘em. We envy these people, but we are not these people. It always feels stilted and cynical when we try and we’re just not good at it — maybe you’ve noticed.

So this is a place for us to start to make sense of our stuff — to try and tie a bit of twine around it in a way that feels a bit more honest and deferential to the process. New things, lost things, explanations, annotations. Fragments from the past and foreshadow-y futures. The messy stuff and the meticulous stuff. Stuff drawn from the stockroom of what we call Sanitarium Sound Services, the shell corp for the creative concerns of: Zac Pennington; Prudence Rees-Lee; Popular Music; Parenthetical Girls; et. al, ad inf.

We’re doing this with the hope of cultivating a quieter conversation — something with a little more compassion and reciprocity than the algorithm. We don’t have plans to paywall, but if you appreciate the work we make, paid subscriptions are a fine way to see it continue.
