    I am Willem, a Dutch cultural historian turned web professional based in Germany. I care deeply about language and people, and in my work I am always looking to create thoughtful online solutions with good writing and meaningful interactions.

    Music and dancing, reading and writing, tinkering with code, the individual components of a triathlon, and people.

    WordPress Origin Story

    In 2009, I created a WordPress blog to store the research notes for my MA thesis. I believe it was hosted on my NAS first, later I made it accessible on a doesntexist.org domain. Not too long after that, a friend asked me if I could help her build their website. This became my second WordPress project, and the beginning of my freelancing career and the moniker SOMTIJDS.
