I think the money would be better spent on Servo, which is already based in the EU. While it’s still in it’s early days, it seems to be making some good progress lately and it might just be me, but I think Servo has a lot more potential. At least using Rust and not relying on GTK already sounds like a dream to me.

Der häufige Verweis auf den “größten Massenmord an Juden seit dem Holocaust” wirkt auf mich, als ob man einen Hass auf Juden hier als primären Auslöser für den Angriff verantwortlich machen wolle. Mag natürlich in Teilen ein Faktor sein, primär geht es aber eben um die Besatzung, die durch solche Vergleiche in den Hintergrund gerät, obwohl sie als hauptsächlicher Motivator ein wichtiger Aspekt für die Einordnung der Situation ist.
Zudem verstehe ich die Fixierung auf eine Zweistaatenlösung nicht. Wer glaubt denn ernsthaft noch, dass eine Zweistaatenlösung praktisch möglich wäre und “Israel” an einer Zweistaatenlösung interessiert ist, geschweige denn jemals war?
Selbst wenn man noch ernsthaft Hoffnung hat, dass eine Zweistaatenlösung möglich wäre, warum darf diese nicht infrage gestellt werden? Man hält hier offensichtlich an der Propaganda des “Existenzrechts Israels” fest, was natürlich einen binationalen Staat ausschließt, auch wenn es die beste Lösung für die Möglichkeit eines anhaltenden Friedens in der Region wäre. Den Diskurs auf diese Weise zu verweigern zieht den Konflikt womöglich nur weiter in die Länge, was entsprechend auch weitere Menschenleben kostet. Wenn ich das jetzt so schreibe, überdenke ich meinen Anfangssatz vielleicht doch noch mal: Es ist verwerflicher Müll.

Das Highlighting bestimmter Sätze, die den eigenen Standpunkt eindrücklich verteidigen sollen, irritiert schon sehr. Vage Äußerungen darüber, dass keine Evidenz für etwas gefunden werden konnte, ohne dahingehend Belege zu präsentieren oder sich dabei lediglich auf unseriöse israelische oder Israel-nahe und rechts-konservative Publisher zu beziehen, macht das Ganze nicht besser.
Schon der Titel sollte einen stutzig machen. “Debunking” ist ein eher informelles Wort, welches ich in einer seriösen wissenschaftlichen Veröffentlichung nicht unbedingt lesen wollen würde. Und so schwierig es ist, einen Genozid nachzuweisen, so schwierig ist es auch, einen solchen zu widerlegen, was die Nutzung des Wortes hier umso kurioser wirken lässt.
Das vorgestrige Interview von Jung & Naiv mit dem Genozid-Forscher Omer Bartov hat mir ehrlich gesagt weitaus mehr Informationen gebracht als irgendetwas aus diesem Paper.
Und mal eine rein hypothetische Frage: Würdest du einer russischen Universität Glauben schenken, die behauptet, es gäbe keinen Genozid in der Ukraine (mal völlig unabhängig davon, ob es sich dabei wirklich um einen Genozid handelt)? Natürlich sind die Werke aus beteiligten Staaten nicht automatisch ungültig oder voll mit Falschinformationen, aber sie sind eben doch sehr mit Vorsicht zu betrachten. In diesem Exemplar wird das eben sehr besonders deutlich.
Viele andere, und vor allem meist unabhängige Institutionen kommen zu dem genau gegenteiligen Schluss, oder halten einen Genozid nach aktuellen Indizien mindestens für möglich. Aber du glaubst lieber dem Werk einer israelischen Universität? Naja…
