Running at 100% CPU for any amount of time should be fully expected by the manufacturer and should ramp up fans and throttle the CPU if necessary. Those are hardware functions.

You will get downvoted by people ranting about means of production, still thinking it’s 1875 and most people work in mines, factories and smelting plants.
Being a business owner is open to everyone, but posting memes is easier. I went freelance for just over a year, and it’s not for me, went right back to being “exploited”. If not spending my evenings with tax advisors and accountants is being a sheep, baaaaahhhhhh.
You have a head of UX that makes the decisions (at least in the dozens of startups I have worked in/with).
They have been given much more trivial tasks and it was a shitshow and some people still don’t talk to each other over it.
Just for context, unemployment is at an all time low in most countries and there’s a labor shortage in a bunch of them.
Committees, the pinnacle of efficiency.
People on the floor together are usually pretty quick to react.
We live on different planets.
On my planet, people can’t even decide on the date of the Christmas party, let alone important stuff like business direction or R&D priorities.
This is true. If you are not interviewing at least one a quarter (even if you’re happy at your current job) you are doing yourself a disservice. It is a skill in itself that needs to be trained and kept current. As a side effect you might get offers and jobs you didn’t even know existed.
I switched jobs twice in the last 10 years and as a result at least doublingy salary, without ever feeling the need to switch, just to keep interviewing as “seeing what’s out there”.

That’s part of interview skills. Be kind, relatable, pleasant.
If you’re not, it’s just a small water bill expenditure. None of which are free.
The quote is often said as “stupidity” or “incompetence”. Which could very well be the case here.
That’s a lot of dedication for a free service, appreciate the effort! Definitely ssh keys for the next time is the way to go!

This is one of the most wholesome posts on lemmy I’ve seen in my time here.
On the same boat here, trying to make Christmas magical for the kids. Doing okay so far if I say so myself :)
Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Same here. I tolerate doing the work, sometimes even happy to do it, but the overhead, negotiation, paperwork, accounting, taxes, support, etc, is the absolute worst. Now I can turn off my phone on weekends and holidays while the pay check keeps coming in.
