About Sarah
Hi, I’m Sarah Sentilles—a writer, artist whisperer, and fierce believer in the power of creative work. I live in a small mountain town in Idaho, where I’m writing my first novel and trying, like so many of us, to make meaning out of the mess.
I’ve written a handful of nonfiction books, including Draw Your Weapons and Stranger Care, and I founded The Word Project to lead writing workshops and retreats that help people claim permission, find freedom, and make what they’re here to make. I also co-founded the Alliance of Idaho, which protects the rights of immigrants in our community.
Everything I teach, I learned the hard way. Teaching feels like activism to me—and like a kind of ministry too. I believe one of the most important things we can do right now is make art. It’s how we remember it’s possible to re-make the world.
Why subscribe to NibLit?
Making art can feel lonely. Especially now. We all need reminders that our work matters—and that we’re not the only ones wrestling with doubt, chasing ideas, or trying to find the right words.
NibLit is a short-form dose of creative encouragement. You’ll hear from writers and artists about why they make what they make—and how they keep going. It’s honest, inspiring, and here to remind you that you're not alone.
It’s also a community—a place where creative people connect across disciplines, doubts, and dreams. And it offers a peek into the real process: the mess, the magic, and the moments in between.
I started NibLit to offer a little light, a little company, and a lot of encouragement for anyone trying to keep going. Join the NibLit community of writers and artists and readers. Share your voice and questions and ideas.
