ABOUT
I’m a former Scouting and Analytics Associate with the Mexico City Capitanes of the NBA G-League. With experience across scouting, player development, and front office operations, I’ve worked with NBA players, top college prospects, and international talent. This site is a space where I share insights on players, analysis, and my opinions.
BACKGROUND
I was born and raised in Franklin, Wisconsin, where basketball quickly became more than just a game—it became a lifelong passion. Whether I was getting up hundreds of shots in the driveway or battling my younger brother on a mini hoop, I was always immersed in hoops.
In 7th grade, I started my own youth basketball camp—Summer Basketball Jam. At 12 years old, I fundraised for gym space, designed a training curriculum, cold-called parents, built a website, and organized everything myself. The camp ran successfully for two years, until I shifted my focus to volunteering for local youth programs and my high school’s summer camps.
That same year, I also dove into one of my earliest scouting reports and player promotions—attempting to help former Miami (FL) guard Trey McKinney-Jones, who was pushing for an NBA opportunity. I spent hours in the gym watching him compete and recording his play. I burned the footage onto DVDs and mailed them out to NBA front offices. I had no connections, just a belief I could help a player be seen. McKinney-Jones ended up participating in the preseason training camp for the Milwaukee Bucks.
Moving on, my playing career at Franklin High School was derailed by injuries. After torn hip labrums, broken ribs, an avulsion fracture, and a broken collarbone, I missed nearly all of my high school seasons. Despite that setback, I found ways to stay involved. I assisted with middle school tryouts and joined the coaching staff as an assistant during my senior year, helping lead the team to a conference title.
At Marquette University, I leaned fully into the off-court side of the game. I networked relentlessly—with current and former players, NBA and college staffers, trainers, and agents. I traveled to NBA Summer League, the Portsmouth Invitational, All-Star Weekend, and regional college games. I even waited outside hotels to catch NBA front office personnel after Bucks games. I cold-called and cold-emailed, sent out scouting portfolios, and never passed up an opportunity.
After graduating in December 2021, I kept chasing my dream. In the summer of 2022, I landed a short-term gig as a player development assistant during the NBA off-season. That included assisting in workouts with NBA players like Kyle Lowry, Bam Adebayo, Blake Wesley, Maxwell Lewis, and Ziaire Williams.
Though a full-time NBA role didn’t materialize at the time, I kept going—working a 9-to-5 as an IT recruiter while writing for Prep Hoops, consulting for sports agencies, and continuing to build relationships. That persistence paid off when I was offered a front office role with the Mexico City Capitanes, where I spent the 2023–24 season as a Scouting and Analytics Associate. In that year, we made the franchise’s first-ever Winter Showcase playoff appearance. Our roster featured NBA veterans like Kenneth Faried, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Michael Carter-Williams, and Trey Burke, and we earned two NBA call-ups in Maozinha Pereira and Toscano-Anderson.
After an eye-opening year in the G League, I decided to take a step back and reassess. Sometimes, a step back is really a step forward. Now, I’m continuing to share my experiences and insights with the basketball community—scouting, writing, consulting, and staying ready for whatever’s next.
