SIM Card Reader is an app capable of recovering text messages using your computer that you have deleted from your from mobile phone.
Just like with information stored on your hard drive or flash drives, when you delete a message from your phone, it isn't permanently deleted from the memory, but rather the information is overwritten without deleting it entirely. So, programs like SIM Card Reader can recover these data, and reconstruct them to bring back your deleted SMS.
The major drawback to SIM Card Reader is that it works exclusively with USB card readers, and so it can't sync with ActiveSync or other similar programs. In addition, you also have to know your SIM card's format (PS/SC, or Phoenix), and in case you don't know which one it is, all you have to do is get in contact with the software creator, and they'll let you know.
