About Smoke & Pine
Smoke & Pine is a firelit place for people who know food is never just food.
It’s memory.
Ritual.
Grief and celebration carried in smoke and cast iron.
I am a former head chef turned storyteller. I’ve lived most of my life close to the coals — in kitchens that demanded everything, and in wild country that asked for honesty. I burned my body chasing perfection. I learned what it costs to love work too much. And I learned what remains when the body finally says enough.
I cook from a wheelchair now.
But I didn’t lose my legs — I gave them to the line, one double shift at a time.
Smoke & Pine is what’s left after that trade.
Here you’ll find essays about food, land, memory, and survival — written without polish or apology. You’ll find recipes forged in humble kitchens and wild places, meant to be cooked slowly and remembered. You’ll hear spoken pieces in my own voice, when the words need breath and silence to land.
