A 200-engineer startup had a microservice whose entire job was generating UUIDs. It stored every UUID it ever issued in a database. To check for duplicates. Of UUIDs. 3 engineers. A database guy. Their own sprints.
uuidv4() said "trust me." They said "no." 😀

🎉 What an incredible night at the Bay Area NixOS User Group meetup!

We had an amazing turnout tonight at UC Berkeley, and I’m still buzzing from the energy. The highlight? Getting to meet two legends of the Nix community in person — Eelco Dolstra, the creator of Nix himself, and Jonas Chevalier @zimbatm , a deeply respected community member I’ve known for around 8 to 9 years but was finally meeting face to face for the very first time. Both visiting all the way from Europe made it extra special.

Moments like these are why I love co-organizing this community. Brilliant people, great conversations, and the kind of evening you don’t forget.
