We had an amazing turnout tonight at UC Berkeley, and Iโm still buzzing from the energy. The highlight? Getting to meet two legends of the Nix community in person โ Eelco Dolstra, the creator of Nix himself, and Jonas Chevalier @zimbatm , a deeply respected community member Iโve known for around 8 to 9 years but was finally meeting face to face for the very first time. Both visiting all the way from Europe made it extra special.
Moments like these are why I love co-organizing this community. Brilliant people, great conversations, and the kind of evening you donโt forget.
Huge thanks to Berkeley OCF for hosting us โ you made it all possible! ๐ Thank you everyone who attended.

You can't make this up:
A 200-engineer startup had a microservice whose entire job was generating UUIDs. It stored every UUID it ever issued in a database. To check for duplicates. Of UUIDs. 3 engineers. A database guy. Their own sprints.
uuidv4() said "trust me." They said "no." ๐

you definitely will avoid duplicates. No complaint.
At #REPLAY2026 conference by #temporal in San Francisco today if anyone in my network attending too letโs catch up.

On that note, if you want to do a talk at one of our meetups get in touch and if your office can host us please get in touch as would be appreciate it. Above all come to our events and lets do more Nix and spread the knowledge.

Massive congrats to @tpolecat @mpilquist ย @armanbilge @ross ย and the whole #typelevel crew. ๐พ

seems #tailwind #css has laid off 75% of their engineering team blaming #AI taking traffic away from their documentation site contributing to their financial demise. Sorry to see this.
