Photogrammetry is the science of making measurements from photographs. It infers the geometry of a scene from a set of unordered photographies or videos. Photography is the projection of a 3D scene onto a 2D plane, losing depth information. The goal of photogrammetry is to reverse this process. The dense modeling of the scene is the result yielded by chaining two computer vision-based pipelines, “Structure-from-Motion” (SfM) and “Multi View Stereo” (MVS). Kokua is an open source metaverse viewer project based on the Second Life Viewer source. Disclaimer: This software is not provided or supported by Linden Lab, the makers of Second Life. The goal of Kokua is to greatly improve the usability of the Viewer through community involvement, thoughtful design, modern development methods, and a pro-change atmosphere.

GtkGLExt is an OpenGL extension to GTK+. It provides additional GDK objects which support OpenGL rendering in GTK+, and GtkWidget API add-ons to make GTK+ widgets OpenGL-capable.

The Objectron dataset is a collection of short, object-centric video clips, which are accompanied by AR session metadata that includes camera poses, sparse point-clouds and characterization of the planar surfaces in the surrounding environment. In each video, the camera moves around the object, capturing it from different angles. The data also contain manually annotated 3D bounding boxes for each object, which describe the object’s position, orientation, and dimensions. The dataset consists of 15K annotated video clips supplemented with over 4M annotated images in the following categories: bikes, books, bottles, cameras, cereal boxes, chairs, cups, laptops, and shoes. In addition, to ensure geo-diversity, our dataset is collected from 10 countries across five continents. Along with the dataset, we are also sharing a 3D object detection solution for four categories of objects — shoes, chairs, mugs, and cameras.

A lightweight and powerful python module for scientific analysis and visualization of 3d objects. Inspired by the vpython manifesto "3D programming for ordinary mortals", vedo makes it easy to work with 3D pointclouds, meshes and volumes, in just a few lines of code, even for less experienced programmers. vedo is based on VTK and numpy, with no other dependencies. Import meshes from VTK format, STL, Wavefront OBJ, 3DS, Dolfin-XML, Neutral, GMSH, OFF, PCD (PointCloud). Export meshes as ASCII or binary to VTK, STL, OBJ, PLY formats. Analysis tools like Moving Least Squares, mesh morphing and more. Tools to visualize and edit meshes (cutting a mesh with another mesh, slicing, normalizing, moving vertex positions, etc..). Split mesh based on surface connectivity. Extract the largest connected area. Calculate areas, volumes, center of mass, average sizes etc. Calculate vertex and face normals, curvatures, feature edges. Fill mesh holes.

Crystal Space is an Open Source 3D SDK for Unix, Windows, and MacOS/X. It renders with OpenGL and features GLSL shaders, CG shaders, deferred rendering, dynamic shadows, bullet based physics library, terrain engine, skeleton based animation meshes, exporter for Blender, portals, etc...

This project is not currently being supported but feel free to use it as an example. delta3d is a robust simulation platform built using open standards and open source software. It features full toolchain development supporting a wide variety of free and commercial software.

GLE is a library of C functions that draw extruded surfaces, including surfaces of revolution, sweeps, tubes, polycones, polycylinders and helicoids. GLE uses the OpenGL(R) API to perform the actual rendering.

RIB Mosaic is aimed at providing a complete RenderMan(TM) development environment for Blender. It provides tools for developers to create and distribute artist friendly GUI's that control custom RIB export. This makes it easy to use Blender with any RenderMan(TM) compliant renderer or render specific feature.

KlayGE is an open source, cross-platform game engine with plugin-based architecture. It provides a framework to make game development, testing, porting as simple as possible.

The Vizard research community is dedicated to sharing virtual reality projects that are used by behavioral scientists. These projects are developed on the Vizard platform and have been made open-source for anyone to use or modify.

XreaL is a heavily improved Quake 3 Arena engine. It's bundled with new tools and a demo game that was never finished. ET:XreaL is a subproject bringing all XreaL enhancements to Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

This software can be used for relief and normal maps calculation by 3D sculptors and designers. Reliefer can be called from Blender by means of Python script. It's a GPU-based visual computing application so requres OpenGL 2 compitable video subsystem.
