This is a real gem of a renaming tool, tiny (400 KB executable), light (it uses less than 10 MB of RAM), fast (renaming operations are completed instantaneously), portable (all data and settings are saved in sub-folders inside program folder), feature-rich (it offers a good set of renaming patterns), easy to use (all the renaming options are visible and they are organized in a clean, logical and simple interface) and customizable (preferences and extras are accessible via right-click). It seems that once RenFile had its own website with help, manual and examples but it is gone (nothing is preserved at the Internet Archive) which is a pity because such a nice little tool deserves a good documentation. In a nutshell, RenFile is a blast from the past when coding was still art, not craft, and programmers used to create well-designed, slim and nimble programs which have nothing in common with the huge, heavy, feeble and ugly monsters the present-day programmers churn out.
