New to token pricing?
Models charge by the token, not the word - roughly 4 characters of English text. Providers quote rates per 1 million tokens because a single request is usually a few thousand. A turn is one request/response round trip; a chat message that triggers three tool calls is four turns. Cache read is a discount for tokens the model has already seen recently; cache write is what it costs to make those tokens cacheable in the first place. Most providers charge less for cache reads than for fresh input, and either a flat rate or nothing at all for writes.
Nobody uses an agent at a perfectly flat rate - some days are quiet, some days it runs nonstop. Each band prices the offering at a named daily-intensity range (a turn is one request/response round trip - a chat message that triggers three tool calls is four turns):
Light - 20-199 turns/day: Occasional use - a handful of questions or edits spread across the day.
Average - 200-799 turns/day: A regular daily user - several focused sessions, typical tool-call fan-out.
Heavy - 800-4K turns/day: Continuous or bursty use - an agent left running, or multiple parallel sessions.
