Customize the calibration of your Apple Pro Display XDR or Apple Studio Display
If your workflow requires custom calibration, such as graphic design or video editing, you can recalibrate your Pro Display XDR or Studio Display using the Pro Display Calibrator to suit your needs.
Before you begin
Before you can use the Pro Display Calibrator, do the following:
Make sure your Mac has the latest version of macOS Ventura.
Make sure your display has the latest firmware. See the Apple Support article What’s new in firmware updates for Apple Pro Display XDR and the Apple Support article What’s new in firmware updates for Apple Studio Display.
Connect your Mac to the display you would to calibrate. Connecting your display with an Apple Thunderbolt cable is recommended when using the Pro Display Calibrator.
Connect a supported spectroradiometer to your Mac. The following instruments can be used with the Pro Display Calibrator:
Photo Research: PR-740, PR-745, or PR-788 (Recommended bandwidths are 4nm or 5nm, and required apertures are 0.1, 0.125, 0.2, or 0.25.)
Colorimetry Research: CR-300
Make sure the room is dim or dark and well-ventilated.
Make sure the display is at a typical ambient temperature, placed away from any flowing air, such as an air conditioning duct or the exhaust vent from other equipment.
Tip: If you want to establish a baseline for your display, measure your display before and after calibration. Use the same spectroradiometer for both measuring and calibration. See the Apple Support article Measure the calibration of your Apple Pro Display XDR and Apple Studio Display.
