Tastebuds is a new weekly newsletter by me, Beth O’Brien. Each week, I share new recipes, travel recommendations, short essays, occasional interviews with other chefs, bakers and food producers and recipe development deep-dives.

I currently have a monthly column in the Irish Times, where I test multiple recipes for one baked good (scones, mince pies, doughnuts etc.), before developing my own recipe. I’ve been lucky enough to travel a lot over the past year, and am currently living and working in Auckland, New Zealand.

Above all, I love food: eating, cooking, baking, working in kitchens, talking about food. I hope to share this passion through Tastebuds, providing insight into the food industry and giving structure to my many meandering thoughts about food.
