Hi, I’m Síodhna McGowan … welcome! It’s so lovely to have you here.
My name is Irish (pronounced ‘Sheena’). I'm Dublin based, a mum, wife and earn my living in the business world. I feel as if I’m only beginning this writing experiment, but maybe I’ve been writing in my head all my life.
I’m on a journey with beauty, connection and truth through the intimate language of poetry. I feel a divine connection with nature and it has led me here.
I’ve heard that the more you write the closer you get to Truth. I'm seeing if that plays out. I’m interested in deep truths.
I want to write about the things people don't talk about. From this inner, soulful voice. To see what might come of that, for me and especially for you.
Anais Nin said of writing that ‘The role of a writer is not to say what we can all say, but what we are unable to say’
I’ve heard David Whyte say of poetry that it is a language against which you have no defences. I feel all of this. And the late John O'Donohue wrote brilliantly on the inner landscape of Beauty. l’m drawn magnetically toward poetry, it runs through me in pulses. Sometimes, like a summer night on fire. I want to see what else might come of it. To where it might bring us … you and I.
Thanks again for reading, I hope I honour this.
(Below are the musical tracks on Spotify that accompany the poetry I've written. I feel a visceral connection between music and words. I think this playlist is best played on ‘Shuffle’ mode)
