Before Customers Hit The Bugs, Technical Writers Often Do... The default user does not exist. If you are building documentation for global products, you are not writing for one person sitting in one country with one set of assumptions. You are writing for someone in Mumbai, Munich, Melbourne, Dallas, Dubai, or Tokyo. Different technical expectations. Different cultural context. Different compliance realities. Different ways of reading instructions. Rutva S., Senior Technical writer at Gartner India, reminds us why Technical Writers are our natural allies in localization and why documentation should be written from day one. Shorter sentences matter. Clear terminology matters. Ambiguity becomes expensive very quickly when content crosses languages. Technical writers are often the first real users of the product. Think about that for a second. They click through workflows. They test logic. They hit edge cases. They notice mislabeled buttons, confusing messages, unclear flows, and assumptions that product teams no longer see because they are too close to what they built. That makes technical writers incredibly valuable allies for localization teams. They already think about clarity. They already think about users. They already see where communication breaks. If you work with Nordic languages, you have likely encountered this: you ask for a Norwegian or Danish translation, but LLMs (trained on vastly more Swedish data) hallucinate Swedish vocabulary instead. The translations look good at first sight, but for a native speaker, they are completely wrong. In our latest blog post, Dr. Nadja Ruhl, LangOps Architect at Chainels, shares exactly how to move from detecting these errors to preventing them using the AI Pipeline inside Crowdin. i18n (internationalization) is about the little, the invisible, the subtle things, that just make things work ⚙️ I recently contributed to GitLab developer and design system documentation, by creating comprehensive i18n guidelines for how to compose messages and code, to support 𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
