Which is pretty typical, as Jaap Brasser knows 😇) In October at NIC in Oslo, I'll be speaking about how you can use AI for Azure engineering and then contain it again through Azure policies. First we want to use all the generative AI tools we have available. But make it Azure. This doesn't mean the source should be Microsoft, this is practical guidance on how you can use Copilot(s), ChatGPT, Claude or other artificial friends especially for your Azure management. Because you probably don't do it enough! And then let's talk about containing all the fun. Here I tell you all my adventures on automating Azure Policy. In the end, our lives became a lot easier. But we didn't get there without a hitch. I'll show you how far I got through all my assumptions and mistakes. NIC will be in Oslo Spektrum and this is my first time in Norway! I am really excited. Barbara Forbes heeft dit gedeeldWriting good instructions for your Copilot agent files is a skill on its own. Turns out it is not about being friendly, it's about being specific. "You are a helpful assistant" tells a GitHub Copilot agent nothing. It has no idea what to actually do. What does work, is to be very clear about the job it needs to do, what it is not supposed to do and what tools it can use. The best starting point? Let AI instruct AI! Barbara Forbes heeft dit gedeeldSo what actually counts as production in your environment? Richard Campbell and I almost got philosophical our recording of Run As Radio. But this is a valid discussion when you are talking about Azure policy. If your development environment going down would ruin someone's day, it is production. If it touches production data, even loosely, it is production. The label on the resource group does not change what is actually at stake. This matters for Azure Policy specifically because how you classify environments determines which policy sets apply and how strictly you enforce versus audit. Microsoft Ignite 2025 – Intune is leveling up Ignite 2025 showed how Microsoft Intune is becoming an AI-driven control plane for endpoints, not just an MDM tool. 🔹 AI & agents in Intune Security Copilot embedded in Intune to troubleshoot, query devices and optimize configs with natural language. New Intune agents (preview) for: Change review – analyzing risky changes before rollout. Policy configuration – turning written requirements into Intune policies. Device offboarding – identifying and safely removing stale / risky devices. 🔹 Safer rollouts & operations New Admin tasks view to centralize key approvals (EPM, scripts, security actions). Phased deployments for app workloads to roll out changes in controlled rings. 🔹 Security, updates & recovery Remote WinRE management to support scripted recovery at scale. Enhancements in Endpoint Privilege Management, app delivery and Windows backup to reduce risk and downtime. 💡 My takeaway: Intune is becoming the backbone for secure, AI-assisted endpoint management – from policy design to rollout and recovery. BREAKING NEWS! MICROSOFT INTUNE IS SHUTTING DOWN! On April 1st, 2027, Microsoft Intune will be closing its doors after a good run. After years of protecting compliant devices and auto-provisioning through Windows Autopilot, Intune will now need to be deprovisioned from devices. Windows Hello is getting a rebrand. Now during sign-in, you will see sign into Compliance-ish™ going forward. I am even hearing rumors Entra ID may rename itself back to Azure Active Directory after years of progress. The top new feature coming out on release? Apparently reviewing GraphAPI endpoints, it will be called "Zero Trust Issues". Early previews show that device enrollment will now be handled exclusively through a new platform called Reboot & Pray, which leverages advanced telemetry (and vibes) to determine compliance. If a device fails policy checks, users will be prompted with a helpful message: “Something went wrong. We’re not sure what. Good luck.” Conditional Access policies are also getting simplified. Instead of 47 toggles and 6 nested conditions, admins will now choose between two options: • Allow • Ask Yourself If This Is Worth It Meanwhile, Microsoft Graph will introduce a breaking change where all endpoints return HTTP 200, regardless of success, failure, or existential dread. Documentation will be replaced with a single sentence: “It depends.” In an effort to improve user experience and continue this April Fools joke, the Company Portal app will be renamed to “Figure It Out”, and will feature a clean, minimalist interface consisting of one button labeled “Retry”. Finally, Microsoft confirmed that all support tickets will be automatically resolved after 72 hours with the note: “We have not heard back from you and will be closing this request.” A moment of silence for Intune. Or at least until it silently reinstalls itself after the next sync.
