𝗛𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 — 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀? Hexagonal Architecture (a.k.a. Ports & Adapters) gets a lot of hype — and for good reason. It encourages building software where the core domain logic stands independent from frameworks, databases, UI, or external systems. But does it magically remove coupling? 👉 No. What it does is shift coupling to the edges, where change is easier to manage. With Hexagonal Architecture: Your core logic depends on abstractions, not implementations Swapping a database, UI, or external service becomes a matter of replacing adapters Testing becomes dramatically easier because the domain doesn’t rely on infrastructure Instead of tightly coupling business rules to frameworks (ORMs, APIs, messaging systems), Hexagonal Architecture helps you design a clean and testable core. It doesn’t eliminate coupling — it makes it intentional, explicit, and replaceable. In a world of rapidly evolving tools and integrations, that kind of flexibility is invaluable.

"1,400+ out-of-box connectors." That's what Microsoft emphasizes in their BizTalk end-of-life announcement about Azure Logic Apps. But let us translate what that actually means for BizTalk architects. You're not just migrating from BizTalk to "another integration platform." You're migrating to a platform that natively connects to: ➡️ Enterprise systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics) ➡️ SaaS applications (Salesforce, ServiceNow, Workday)➡️Legacy systems and mainframes ➡️ Modern cloud services ➡️ APIs and custom applications The connector ecosystem Microsoft built means many integrations that required custom adapter development in BizTalk become configuration exercises in Logic Apps. That third-party system you wrote a custom WCF adapter for? Probably has a Logic Apps connector now. That legacy system requiring specialized connectivity code? Check the connector catalog. Microsoft explicitly calls out B2B/EDI and healthcare transactions because they know these aren't optional for many organizations. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹: EDI integration is mandatory, not nice-to-have. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲: HL7 and healthcare-specific standards are non-negotiable. Logic Apps supports these scenarios not as afterthoughts, but as first-class capabilities.
