Kyle Davidson shared thisTwo years ago, a friend called me with a pitch: start a sauna hat company. I said yes... Here's the story: Today we're launching on Kickstarter after two unexpectedly difficult years to get this business up and running. Most sauna hats on Amazon are $20. They're made from cheap or fake wool, manufactured in China, and start smelling like a wet dog after 3 months. We wanted to build the opposite of that. Neither Sam Fihma (my co-founder) nor I had any consumer product experience. In hindsight that was probably an advantage because we had to figure out everything from first principles. We prototyped dozens of wool variations and designs. We imported wool from Italy. Then New Zealand. Then finally said screw it and found a US supplier. Today our entire supply chain is in the USA 🇺🇸 from the sheep, to the wool manufacturing, to the actual construction of the hats. We almost quit a few times. Tariffs, supplier issues, shipments that showed up wrong. Two years is a long time to work on a hat. But we kept going because we're both sauna fanatics and we couldn't find a hat that didn't suck. So we made one. We've sold about 100 hats from early prototypes. Every single person who bought one has raved about it. That's what gave us the confidence to finally launch publicly. This is a side project for both of us which means we have the luxury of obsessing over the product instead of chasing hockey sticks. Kyle Davidson posted thisWhen we launched UseCaller, we had a simple thesis: People don’t want another app. They just want to make a phone call. The crazy part? IT'S WORKING! Since launch, users have called across 95+ countries, straight from their browser. No downloads. No monthly fees. No expiring credits. What surprised us most were the use cases: - Small businesses making international sales and support calls without setting up a phone system - Expats calling family on landlines - Remote workers calling clients in countries where WhatsApp isn’t common for business - Travelers making quick calls from hotel Wi-Fi to banks, airlines, etc. Sometimes you don’t need chat, video, or another login. You just need a reliable way to call someone, anywhere, quickly and cheaply. I've had more fun working on this business than any other in a long time, and we're just getting started!

Kyle Davidson shared thisSkype was shutdown in May of this year, so we built an alternative. Here's how it happened 👇 Microsoft owned Skype for years. Finally they decided they didn't need it anymore and wanted to push everyone to Microsoft Teams. They announced it Feb and by March we had already bought a domain and started to work on an MVP. But Kyle, who still uses Skype? Yes, most of Skype had become irrelevant. Now people use Zoom, Meet, Teams, WhatsApp, etc. However, there is still one very important use case for users all around the world... Calling a landline or mobile number. For example, people who need to call a bank, airline or gov agency in another country. Or small teams outside the US who make calls abroad. Also people who need to call their grandma. This is surprisingly difficult to do. Either you need a carrier SIM which is crazy expensive for international or you have to use Google Voice, which requires an existing valid US number to authenticate, something most people around the world don't have. This left millions of people without a solution for cheap international calls. So we decided it was worth a shot and built it ourselves... You can call 200+ countries, buy credits, buy numbers, store contacts, and overall focused on a really amazing UI/UX. I'm super proud of what we've built so far. Honestly, even if we're not the biggest or the winner or whatever, as long as some people use this I will be very happy. And we already have a few paid users! Kyle Davidson posted thisThat background anxiety you're feeling? It's all your open loops. Start closing the loops and it will slowly fade away. The bigger the loop, the more it helps. Have that difficult conversation you've been putting off. Pay that bill that's a month late. Finish that half done project. Fix the tiny problem that becomes a big one if you ignore it. Maybe it doesn't work for everyone or every situation. But I find this is usually my problem.

Kyle Davidson shared thisi met my co-founder on a boat ⛵️ about a year and a half ago a friend of mine got his skipper’s license and invited me to go sailing. i went once, got hooked, and started joining them every week. turns out one of his friends, Mitya (my co-founder), was the other skipper, so it was always the three of us sailing mid-week. they kept inviting me because i was the only one available in the middle of the day while everyone else was stuck in the office and i would help out on board. for months we just talked about random stuff; how the wind was blowing, life, etc. never once did we talk about work. then one day after sailing we're walking out of the marina and i asked him, “so what do you do anyway?” he goes, “i build software.” me: “wait, me too.” after that we started hanging out off the boat... dinners, drinks, talking shop, product ideas. eventually we decided, okay, we have to partner up on something eventually. then the shoutout io acquisition came up... and felt perfect. we finally had our chance. and that’s how i ended up building a SaaS with a guy i met on a sailboat. so if you're ever wondering where your next business partner is going to come from... it very well could be on a boat.

There were 2 career paths where that seemed possible: 1. Start a startup 2. Go into VC (and fund those startups) Most Olim believe this is the case: 1. You build equity 2. Or you buy it But there's a third path, where you can make money from Day 1. - Some people call it bootstrapping. - Some people call it soloprenuership. - Some people call it starting a service-business. Doesn't matter what you call it. It's where you do the thing you would do for 1 company, for many companies. The benefits? - No need for VC funding - Own 100% equity - Make revenue (even profit) from day 1 Just monetize your expertise...and start selling. Simple. Not easy, but simple. I'm still shocked most Olim still think you need to have a once-in-a-lifetime startup idea or go into VC to make $$$ from Israel. Wrong. You can start a service business. I wish someone had told me this 5 years ago. Better "late" (lol I'm 28) than never! But then over those 8 years I went down the rabbit hole, how everything is connected, how deep the ideas actually go. I ended up spending more than 12,000 hours. What kept me wasn't the price. It was the deeper question underneath, about money itself. How it works, who controls it, and what happens to people who built real wealth when the rules change faster than they expected. The more I studied, the more I noticed the same pattern. Serious, wealthy people were trying to understand Bitcoin but getting the wrong answers. From advisors who had never studied it seriously. From an industry with every incentive to keep them in existing products. Nobody was offering what I kept wishing existed. A completely independent voice. No fund. No product. No agenda beyond the other person's understanding. So here we are. Educating. I now work privately with high-net-worth individuals and family offices who want to understand Bitcoin clearly, before they're forced to. Fully independent, one-on-one, and built around what I genuinely believe to be the best asset in the world. Buyers can purchase products from businesses like Fanatics and Quince in just one click, whether from a business’s website or from within the app after clicking on an ad. Businesses can opt into selling through Facebook ads with a toggle in the Stripe Dashboard. The Agentic Commerce Protocol underpins this new purchasing flow. Over time, businesses will also be able to enable similar purchasing flows across other Meta surfaces, including Instagram ads. AI-enabled commerce will take many forms.
