Problem

No image is displayed when connecting the data projector to a Windows laptop

Solution
This generally easily fixed with a simple key combination on the laptop.
The laptop will have a Fn key - this is not the same as
a Function Key (eg F1, F2 etc). The Fn key is used for
additional functionality on the laptop eg the brightness
of the screen, the volume control or enabling/disabling
the VGA port.
We are interested in the Fn keys ability to enable the
external VGA port which connects to the Data
Projector. PLEASE NOTE - the Fn key is always in a different colour to the rest of the
alphabet on the keyboard.
To enable the external VGA port on a Sony laptop, for example, you would press and
hold the Fn key and then press the F7 key (Fn+F7).
IMPORTANT NOTE - All laptop manufacturers will have their own key combinations,
but it will usually involve the Fn key plus a Function Key (eg F4, F5, F7 or F10). The
relevant Function Key will have an icon similar to ones below :

Once you have pressed your laptops key combination the screens will go blank for a
second and then the display will return. The key combination is a three-way toggle
and pressing the combination again will cycle the external VGA port through the
following modes :
Laptop screen only
Data projector only
Laptop screen AND data projector both together
Please ensure that the laptop is in the correct mode before attempting to change any
settings on the actual data projector.
If you still have a problem then please check that the cables are properly connected to
both the laptop and projector. Ensure that the projector and laptop are on mains
power and then restart your laptop with the projector cable connected so that it can
try and auto-detect the VGA port and projector.
