What Fabrication Fitter Should Know?

General Requirements
Able for,Thinking skills,Problem Solving,Decision making,Job Task Planning and Organizing,Working with others. Working with others,Continous learning,Team leader. Computer Awreness,Operating. Able to read and understand work Insrtuctions,Procedures. Grade B Can repair and adjustments of fabricating equipments. Grade B Must understand use of relevant forms,formats. Grade B Write notes to supervisors to record production problems or recommending design adjustments for production components, Write reports for accident or incident investigations. Interact with co-workers individually or in a group setting to clarify work orders or instructions from supervisor. Interact with other workers, (Exa.Welders and machine operators to discuss equipment needs or problems or to co-ordinate shared access to equipment Interact with co-workers in the capacity of shop supervisor or lead hand and assist workers with less experience. Determine the welding process required for particular jobs. Select appropriate hoists, chains, slings for moving large, heavy equipments. Decide how to lay out material for cutting to produce as little waste as possible. (By using experience,decision,and the sketches) Decide whether the fabricated product,they have produced meets the quality assurance standards and specifications as required by customer. Decide which cutting torches, other tools or cutting equipment need to be replaced in order to cut accurately Supervise apprentices, assign them specific tasks and monitor their progress. They may also act as shop supervisors To adopt a team approach may work as a team member or leader. Should be good at finding innovative solutions to problems Need to be patient, have a positive attitude and take pride in doing quality work Able to visualize in 3 dimensions how things should come together? Mechanical aptitude for fixing things, and good manual dexterity? Able to bend, stretch, kneel, stand for long periods, and work in close quarters with power tools and heavy material Good at performing mathematical calculations To enjoy working independently or in a group to get a job done to deadline Understanding of Manufacturing drawing with Revision status. Understanding of G.A Drawing Difference between G.A and Manufacturing Drawing. Read and write, count, round off, add or subtract, multiply or divide whole numbers Knowledge of Orientation (Nozzles,Welding seams,etc.) How to understand Elevation,projection,Side views.

Knowledge of Measuring Instrument with there usage (Measuring Tape,Ruler,Micrometer,Vernier etc.) What precaution,care to take before start of activity. Knowledge of sequence of Operation. Avoid errors,mistakes during marking,Fitup. Initiative for developing new ideas to increase productivity. Ideas for improving Productivity. Housekeeping,Safety awareness. Training for Junior level Fitter,Helper Production activity sequence by understanding of mfg.drawing to increase productivity Understanding of Layout,Blueprint reading,Detailing,CAD drawing cordinates,Gas cutting process. Work planning for Helper. QC documents fillup and handover to Supervisor. Understanding of Quality Control Plan and Qaulaity Assurance Plan. To know the Hold,Witness and Review point as per QAP. Understanding of Bill of Material. Rules to follow while issuing of materials from Store.

Product Specific Requirement


Basic knpwledge of Code (Types,Use etc) Identification of materials in terms of (Heat No,MOC,Size,Job No etc) Storage of issued material at shopfloor. Material cutting sequence,tolerances. Ensuring Inspection activity carried out or not as per QAP/QCP Good planner to accomplish a task from start to finish? Able to fabricate Vessel,Heat Exchanger as per Code requirement by maintaining minimum following paramaters Shell Rolling,Fitup,Ovality,Rerolling,Total Length,Nozzle marking,Nozzle fitup,

U Stamp - Audit Path way - Checklist General


Checking of QCM with latest eddition. Ensuring All old revisions QCM,were available or not QCM,issuing register updates or not NCR log book updations. General procedures checking as per latest addenda.

Marketing Section
Record for Customer Enquiry. Record for handing over to Design. Cutomer Purchase order copy

Design Section
Design calculation,verification/crosschecking for completed jobs. Checking of all the drawings by ensuring revision no,ASME stamp,applicable edition,design data Corelation of drawings with design calculations. Checking of ASM for applicable materials for completed jobs. Ensuring ASM with Unique Nos,Revision,Dates,etc. Completed MDR cross checking.

Quality Section
Checking of QAP,corelatting with Drawing w.r.t Date,Revision,Applicable code. Checking of Weldmap,corelating with Drawing w.r.t Date,Revision,Sign,etc. Checking of WPS,PQR,WPQ to ensure meeting the requirement as per Section IX Ensuring All Essential,Supplementary,Non-essential variables were recorded or not. Verify welder contiuity record were updated. GRIR for all the materials used in completed jobs. Issue return record for material from store. Material Identification report,material heat chart along with all backup report as per QCM
