Course Description:
Electric Drives: Speed-Torque Characteristics, Speed Control, Transient, Power Rating, Motor Selection, and Elements of Automatic Control System. Introduction to Control Systems. Basic Characteristics of Feed Back Control System: stability, steady state accuracy, transient accuracy, disturbance rejection, insensitivity, and robustness. PID control. Time response of second order systems. Root Locus method of design. Frequency response analysis. Implementation of compensators. Introduction to Programmable controllers, Number Systems and Codes , COMPONENTS AND SYSTEMS and The Discrete Input/Output System Programming Languages Introduction to Programming Languages, Types of PLC Languages, Ladder Diagram Format, Ladder Relay Instructions, Ladder Relay Programming, Timers and Counters, Timer Instructions Possible Methods of Assessment Attendance and class activities Assignments (Individual, Group) Exams (Quiz, Mid-exam, Final-exam) Project, company or industry survey practice and presentation Lab reports Text Book A text of electrical drives and power system , J.K Moran
