Project Charter
Project Name: 2.1 - Relational Database Support Business Objective: Enhance SSRC database services in a cost effective manner to support future customer database requirements. Areas to be reviewed for improvement include SQL Server database services, MySQL database services and Oracle data warehouse services. This project will require investment in capital, software and licenses. Initial Project Schedule: Estimating a Project Schedule without knowing resource availability and Customer requirements beforehand is a difficult task. However, the following target dates are planned:
Milestone Evaluate SQL Server Database Service Needs Create SQL Server Team Submit LBRs Define SQL Server DB Service Develop Standards for SQL Server DB Service Setup Operations and Implement SQL Server DB Standards Review and Refine SQL Server DB Service Evaluate Oracle Data Warehouse Requirements of Customers Develop Plan based on Customer Requirements Create MySQL Database Team Evaluate MySQL Database Service Needs Develop Standards for MySQL DB Service Setup Operations and Implement MySQL DB Service Review and Refine MySQL Database Service Project Cost Estimate:

There are direct costs associated with this project. The SQL Server Database service received no funds as part of Full Service Transition and as such is limited to the budget set aside by the Windows Platform for legacy managed services equipment and software. Essentially $0. Project Deliverables: SQL Server SLA Cost Analysis Operational Standards 1 Responsible Party: Kevin Convery Kevin Convery SQL Server Team, MySQL Team
General Risks To Be Considered No SQL Server DB service budget allocated for FY11-12 Project Manager does not control budget for SQL Server DB service Aggressive timeline and competing priorities may impact the ability to meet targeted deadlines No operational or staff consolidation occurred with SQL DB service during Full Service Transition No agency license remediation was implemented for the SQL DB service during Full Service Transition 80% of SQL Server Database Service team members are not primarily DBAs
Project Assumptions: Customers will require high-performance Oracle data warehouse services
Initial Project Constraints: SQL DB Service is limited to $300K of revenue for FY11-12 Stakeholders: Sponsors:
John M. Wade, SSRC Executive Director Tony Powell, SSRC Board Chair Kevin Convery, SSRC
Project Manager: Program Support: Agency Technical Leads:
