TDBFP

This document outlines the procedure for rolling and testing the overspeed of a TDBFP turbine. It involves: 1. Preparing the turbine by charging it, ensuring valves are closed, and setting the speed below barring speed. 2. Gradually increasing the speed setpoint and monitoring parameters, first to 1500rpm for soaking and then to 3000rpm. 3. After casing temperature reaches 240C, the TDBFP can be loaded. 4. For overspeed testing, the turbine is decoupled and speed is increased in steps to 6000rpm to test the overspeed trip, tripping manually if not triggered by 6100rpm.

TDBFP TURBINE ROLLING PROCEDURE:

1. ENSURE THAT TDBFP IS CHARGED FROM FEED WATER SIDE & IS PUT ON
BARRING.
2. CHARGE TURBINE GLAND STEAM & THEN CONNECT TURBINE EXHAUST TO
VACUUM SIDE. (CHARGING WILL BE DONE THROUGH 1 INCH EXHAUST V/V
BYPASS LINE TO AVOID ANY DROP IN VACCUM.)
3. ENSURE THAT TDBFP TURBINE ACV, MCV & ESV ARE IN CLOSE CONDITION.
4. ENSURE THAT TURBINE SPEED SET POINT LESS THAN BARRING SPEED.
5. ENSURE OPENING OF LIVE STEAM VENT VALVE BEFORE ESV & OPENING OF
TURBINE CASING DRAINS.
6. OPEN EXTRACTION MANUAL VALVE, AUX STEAM VALVE.
7. RESET THE TDBFP TURBINE & ENSURE BUILDING UP OF TRIP OIL PRESSURE.
8. OPEN TDBFP TURBINE ESV.
9. RAISE THE SPEED SET POINT TO 1500rpm FOR SOAKING & CLOSE LIVE STEAM
VENT VALVE.
10. ENSURE AUTO CLOSING OF TURNING GEAR VALVE & AUTO CUT OFF JOP.
11. MONITOR ALL TSI PARAMETERS DURING SPEED RAISING, ENSURE ALL
PARAMETERS WITHIN PERMISSIBLE LIMITS.
12. AFTER TDBFP TURBINE CASING TEMPERATURE REACHES 150C, RAISE THE
SPEED SET POINT FURTHER TO 3000rpm.
13. BFP DISCHARGE V/V OPENING PERMISSIVE WILL BE
AFTER DIS PR REACHES 60 KSC.

AVAILABLE ONY

13. AFTER REACHING 4000rpm, OPEN CRH VALVE.

14. AFTER TURBINE CASING TEMPERATURE REACHES 240C, LOAD THE TDBFP.
15. ALL PROTECTION OF P/P AS WELL AS TURBINE MUST BE IN SERIVCE.

TDBFP TURBINE OVERSPEED TEST IN DECOUPLED CONDITION:

1. ENSURE THAT MAIN P/P AND BOOSTER P/P IS DECOUPLED FROM DRIVE
TURBINE AND TURBINE IS ON BARRING SPEED (THROTTLE THE TURNING GEAR
VALVE TO KEEP SPEED WITH IN LIMITS i. e. LESS THAN 540rpm)
2. ENSURE AVAIABLITY OF STANDBY OIL P/P AND EOP AUTO STANDBY.
2. CHARGE TURBINE GLAND STEAM & CONNECT THE EXHAUST TO VACUUM SIDE.
3. ENSURE CLOSING OF TURBINE ACV, MCV, ESV & ACV WARM UP VALVE.
4. OIL INJECTION TO BE CARRIED OUT AND HEALTHINESS OF OVERSPEED TRIP
BOLTS TO BE ENSURED.
5. OPEN AUXILIARY STEAM VALVE & ACV WARMUP VALVE.
6. RAISE THE SPEED SET POINT TO 1500 rpm, ENSURE CLOSING OF TURNING GEAR
VALVE & AUTO CUT OFF JOP.
7. MONITOR ALL TSI PARAMETERS, ENSURE ALL PARAMETERS ARE WITH IN LIMITS.
8. IF ANY SPEED HUNTING IS OBSERVED, TRIP THE TURBINE & GET THE ACV PILOT
VALVE CLEANED.
9. IF THERE IS NO HUNTING, FURTHER RAISE THE SPEED SET POINT AND OBSERVE
FOR ANY SPEED HUNTING.
10. REPEAT STEPS 9 &7, TILL TURBINE SPEED REACHES OVER SPEED TEST AROUND
6000rpm.
11. ENSURE THAT TUEBINE DESK AND MANUAL EMERGENCY TRIP MUST BE
MANNED BY A PERSON.
12. IF TDBFP TURBINE DOES NOT TRIP EVEN AT 6100rpm, TRIP THE TDBFP TURBINE
MANUALLY.

13. ALL TURBINE PROTECTION MUST BE IN SERVICE.
