Faculty Committee (FC)
Constitution
Purpose
The purpose of the Faculty Committee is to oversee the delivery and development of
the courses offered by the Faculty, ensuring compliance with College policies and
initiatives in respect of quality assurance, learning teaching and assessment, and
diversity.
Reporting
Faculty Committees are sub committees of and report to Academic Board.
Terms of Reference
1 To advise the Head of Faculty on the development of courses, the curriculum
and academic planning in the Faculty;
2 To oversee the arrangements for assessment and to ensure the security of
the assessment processes within the Faculty including the formal processes
for the approval of project packs;
3 To receive the minutes of Course Committees and to hear reports from
Course/Subject Leaders;
4 To consider and approve the annual course monitoring reports of all courses
within the Faculty ensuring that all course level issues have been dealt with
appropriately, identifying the issues to be dealt with at the Faculty level and
referring those issues to be dealt with at the College level to Quality
Development Committee and the appropriate College officer;
5 To consider the external examiner reports of all courses in the Faculty,
ensuring that all course level issues are being dealt with appropriately,
identifying those issues to be dealt with at the Faculty level and referring
those issues to be dealt with at the College level to Quality Development
Committee and the appropriate College officer;
6 To consider the reports of external agencies and to ensure that the course
level issues are being dealt with appropriately and all Faculty Committee
level issues are referred to the appropriate officers of the College;
7 To consider and collate issues arising from student feedback in the Faculty,
ensuring that all course level issues are being dealt with appropriately,
identifying those issues to be dealt with at the Faculty level and referring
those issues to be dealt with at the College level to Quality Development
Committee and the appropriate College officer;
8 To consider statistical data on the quality assurance and performance of
Faculty provision against College and external indicators;
9 To advise the Head of Faculty on the resource requirements of courses and
resource planning;
10 To advise the Head of Faculty on the implementation of the College learning
and teaching strategy across the Faculty;
11 To ensure that College quality assurance policies, procedures and
regulations are adhered to within the Faculty.

Up to two members of sessional academic staff co opted by the Chair of the
Committee
Student Representatives
Up to two student representatives elected by the Faculty course representatives;
The Chair may co-opt up to two further members of staff to represent the views of
technical or support functions relevant to the Committee’s remit.
Quorum Rules
Quorum is 6 members to include the Chair and at least two members of the course
staff. If less than 6 members are present then any actions agreed shall be subject to
the ratification of a quorate meeting.
