GENERAL INFO ABOUT THE COURSE
This course lasts 16 weeks; four hours of classwork each week.
This course has been designed to improve communicative competence in a foreign language in all the four
skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. It has been conceived as part of the integral education of
undergraduate students at the university.
2.

Students will be evaluated by means of two assessment systems: three tests and classwork. The percentages
for each one of the items will be as follows:
Three Tests:
First Progress Test
20%
(29th February - 5th March)
Second Progress Test
20%
(11th April - 16th April)
Final Exam
30%
(24th May - 31st May)
The three tests will assess all four skills, which will have the same weight in the tests' score: speaking 20%;
listening 20%; writing 20% and reading 20%.
Classwork:
Communication Activities

throughout the semester. They will be handed out two checklists, one just before the first exam and another
before the final exam, which will work as a register of the three marks.
Students will accumulate points for the Participation mark depending on the amount of practice they carry
on in and outside the classroom. They will keep or lose their points (they start with a total of 100) from the
Communication and Written activities marks taking into account their participation in each one of the
activities every session.
*Students will have to participate in all the activities carried on in every session for keeping their points for
the Communication mark.
*Students will have to conserve all their written exercises as evidence for keeping their points in the Written
Mark.
Students will pass the course with a minimum of 60% of the full total points (100 in the case of this subject).
(Art. 30. Agreement 008, 2007 issued by Consejo Superior Universitario)
