Note: In case of Customized software, the Ver 00000056 software is unavailable for updating.

3Information and Notice

3.1 Information
We have released the software which has added the new function and improvements as follows:
1) New function
- Admiralty Information Overlay(AIO) feature has added. For details, refer to the attached
About Admiralty Information Overlay(AIO).
2) Improvements
- Solved: Unnecessary boundary line of object crossing over several charts is displayed on cell
border.
- Improvement: The displaying switch of the pop-up information when the mouse cursor is moved
to AIS/TT target has added.
- Notice:
- The software (Ver.00000056) has already been improved the problem of NAVAREA warning
message and the problem of ECDIS symbol display.
- When updating from after Ver.00000051 to Ver.00000056, re-installing of ENC charts
(Contain AVCS) are not needed.
- When updating from before Ver.00000050 to Ver.00000056, re-installing of ENC charts
(Contain AVCS) are needed for improving the problem of NAVAREA warning and the
problem of ECDIS symbol display. The re-installation work of ENC charts needs about 1
hour per one CD.

3.2 Request for work of updating the software
1. The software updating for the problem of NAVAREA warning message is being carried out.
Basically, Ver.00000056 (AIO) software is added function, so carry out software updating as
necessary.ECDIS support tem will issue service request after receiving indication of sales
department. Only in case of above, update the software to Ver.00000056.
Notice:
- In case that sales department does not dictate to update to Ver.00000056, update the software to
Ver.00000055.
- If updating the software to Ver.00000056 without indication of sales department or requesting of
sending update kit without indication of ECDIS support team, service request will not be issued and
update kit will not be sent.

1) Download the software from the Marine Service Department homepage, then burn the software
on the CD-ROM in order to keep it in the ship. Because it is necessary to update the software
with the CD-ROM, when the system file restore to factory shipping software version with
Recovery Image CD.
2) Update the software according to the attached document "Software Update Manual for
V00000056".
3) In case that a customer uses ENC charts (Contain AVCS), re-install ENC charts (Contain AVCS)
depending on the existing software version as below:.
- When updating from after Ver.00000051 to Ver.00000056 re-installing of ENC charts (Contain
AVCS) is not needed.
- When updating from before Ver.00000050 to Ver.00000056, re-installing of ENC charts (Contain
AVCS) is needed.
4) If the chart used is identified before visiting ship, you can figure out working times according to
attached document "Advance confirmation to customer for JRC ECDIS Chart Radar software
update"
- The time for updating software: About 10 minutes
- The time for installing ENC charts (Contain AVCS)
: Maximum 13 hours (9 CDs: the whole world)
: Maximum 30 minutes (1 CD: only Japan)
: About 1 hour per 100 permits
5) After updating software and re-installing ENC charts (Contain AVCS), fill in the update result to
Request for sending of software update result which is attached Software Update Manual for
V00000056 and send it by e-mail or FAX to TMSC.

6) Additional Manual for Chart Installation and Instruction Manual are revised because the AIO
function added. If a customer wants to have it, send it to the customer. The code number is
described as follows.

z Outline
This is an update manual of Ver.00000056 from Ver.00000042A or older software for
JAN-701B/901B/2000/1186, NDC-1186-4xx.

In case of using ENC, When JAN-701B/901B/1186/2000, NDC-1186-4xx software is

updated from V42A or older, it becomes impossible to display an existing ENC
(Contain AVCS) chart. The installation of the chart is necessary after updating
software.
Before update, confirm that there are latest Base CD, Update CD and Cell Permit data.
In case of using C-map, it is necessary to re-install C-map database, and the
operation about C-map data updating is changed. So, before update, confirm that
there are latest database DVD and license file.
A user map is not deleted by software update.

Step1Creating the software update CD

Create the software update CD according to following step

The 5 files and 2 folder is written

to root directory of CD-R.
3) Burn the 5 files and 2 folder which are confirmed in 2) to CD-R with CD-R writing software.

Dont change file name, otherwise the software is not be installed correctly.

Dont change the directory structure. Otherwise, it could not update

correctly.

4) Confirm the composition of CD-R. Confirm that each file is written to root directory.
5) Describe to CD as follows (handwriting is possible). Use a oil paint pen.

Update software according to below step.
1) Insert Software Update CD into the DVD drive.
For JAN-701B/901B, there is DVD drive when opening the cap in the upper part of front panel.

Open the cap in the upper part of front panel.

(above fig is JAN-701B stand alone
type.There is the cap in the same place for
desktop type, and JAN-901B too.)

For NDC-1186-4xx, is in front center part of the case.

2) Move the cursor on Startup Menu, and right-click the trackball on operation panel to display
PASSWORD dialog.
3) On PASSWORD dialog, right-click the trackball once again, then Software Keyboard is displayed
and Enter password 5858 and left-click ENT.

4) Confirm that Software Update: Q:EUpdate.exe is displayed in the upper dialog box, and then
left-click [OK] button.

Left-click [Cancel] button and then confirm that Software Update CD is inserted in to the DVD Drive.

If following message is displayed, this software is not accepted to update because of special
software. Please contact to JRC service agent.

The message list is following.

1. You can't install as this system is non-standard.
2. This model is not applicable.Confirm the ECDIS model.
3. You can't install as version is incompatible.

5) Following dialog is displayed. Confirm that upgrading version is 56, then left-click [Yes] button.

operation even if C-map is used / not used. Left-click [Yes] button.

The procedure of deleting Playback data
1) Move the cursor on the Startup" menu, then right-click in the mouse of the operation unit, and will be

2) When right-clicking again on the PASSWORD" dialog, then "Software keyboard" is displayed. Input
the password "1101" and left-click ENT.

Step8Confirming of SA Certificate and importing of Cell Permit (In the

Confirm SA Certificate file and import Cell Permit according to below procedure.

1) Start up ECDIS software, then left-click

2) Select [Tool] [Option] at the Chart Portfolio window. Option dialog is displayed.

3) Left-click S-63/AVCStab, then left-click [Select of Certificate...] button.

4) Select the SA Certificate file of data server for importing or update charts according to following list.

Import of Cell Permit

Confirm computer virus does not exit beforehand in USB memory

when reading and writing of the file by using USB memory device.
It influences other equipment when ECDIS is infected with the
virus, and causes the breakdown.

Do not leave USB memory plugged into USB port.

It may be the cause of trouble.

After confirming of SA Certificate file, import Cell Permit according to below procedures.
1) Start up ChartPortfolio.
2) Select [Tool] [Option] at the Chart Portfolio window. Option dialog is displayed.

3) Left-click S-63/AVCStab, then left-click [Import Cell permit...] button.

Find filedialog box is displayed.

Please re-install the ENC(Contain AVCS) in accordance with the following procedure.
1) Start Chart Portfolio at Start up menu.
2) Insert ENC/AVCS Chart CD-ROM into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.
3) Select [Sort] [S-63(Offline)] in that order.
S-63 chart list will appear in several minutes.

Select [Sort] - [S-57] in that order when importing S-57 chart.

4) Left-click [Import/Update] button..

Please re-install the ENC(Contain AVCS) in accordance with the following procedure.
1) Start Chart Portfolio at Start up menu.
2) Insert ENC/AVCS Chart CD-ROM into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.
3) Select [Sort] [S-63(Offline)] in that order.
S-63 chart list will appear in several minutes.

Select [Sort] - [S-57] in that order when importing S-57 chart.

2) Select the installing database at Licenses tab. And left-click [Import from file].

3) Select the license filepassword.usr, left-click [Open] button.

Advance confirmation to customer for JRC ECDIS/Chart Radar software update

The update of software and re-install the charts are needed because of improving the ECDIS symbol
display problem and problem about NAVAREA warning message. There is a possibility that workers
can not complete the operation because working hours differ greatly according to the equipment model
and the using charts.

Therefore please direct a service visit according to the following procedure.

1) Confirm the ship schedule according to the Advance checklist for ECDIS/Chart Radar software
update (page 3)to the ship owner or the ship
2) Estimate a chart installing time from answered numbers of chart contract at the advance checklist
and estimated installing time listed in table 1.
3) Direct a service visit according to the evaluation standard of working directions.

Evaluation standard of working directions

Please direct a service visit when mooring period of a ship is more than time described in the
following table.

Please examine postponing the service visit when the estimated re-installing time of the chart
greatly exceeds the mooring period of the ship.

Please direct that the worker request to re-install the chart to an officer when all re-installing the
chart does not complete during the mooring period.

About Admiralty Information Overlay (AIO)
1. Overview
The Admiralty Information Overlay (AIO) is intended for use in combination with ENC data as a way of
drawing attention to the Temporary and Preliminary Notices to Mariners published by the UKHO that are
relevant to the ENC cells being viewed.

2. Importing AIO data

The AIO data must be imported in order to use them.
2.1. Importing SA Certificate file
1) Start the Chart Portfolio.
2) Select [Tool] - [Option] in that order.

3) Left-click the [S-63/AVCS] tab in the Option panel, and then, the [Import of Certificate...] button.
The Find file panel opens.

4) Insert S-63 Chart CD-ROM into the CD/DVD-ROM drive, and wait until it is ready to be read.

5) Select [Q:] (Q drive) from the Drive combo box (a) as shown below.

6) Double-click [Q:] in the Directory list box (b).

7) Double-click the file name of SA Certificate file (such as primar.crt) in the File name list box (c).
8) Check the file name, and left-click the [OK] button.
The Import of SA Certificate panel opens.
Check the file name you have selected.

9) Check the SA Certificate file information, and left-click the [OK] button.
Check the SA Certificate file information.
This information is PRIMAR or UKHO
(AVCS).

10) As the message box appears left-click the [OK] button to close the box.

2.2. Selecting SA Certificate file

1) Start the Chart Portfolio.
2) Select [Tool] - [Option] in that order.
The Option panel opens.
3) Left-click the [S-63/AVCS] tab, and then, the [Select of Certificate...] button.
The Select of SA Certificate panel opens.

4) Select an SA Certificate file issued by data server to import or update charts.

(Default is selected 0:IHO.CRT)

5) Check the information of SA Certificate file, and left-click the [OK] button.
Check the information of SA Certificate file.
This information is PRIMAR or UKHO
(AVCS).

6) Check the file name of SA Certificate file (such as [1:primar.crt]), and left-click the [OK] button to close the
panel.

1 in [1:primar.crt] indicates the order of adding CRT file. primar.crt indicates the file name.

2.3. Importing Cell Permit

Before reading and writing of the file by using the USB storage, confirm that there is not a computer
virus in the USB storage.
Otherwise they may affect other equipments and may cause a malfunction.

Do not leave the USB Storage in the USB port after use.
Malfunctions may result.

Select SA Cetrificate file of Cell Permit that does the import referring to 2.1. Importing SA Certificate file
before doing the import of Cell Permit.
1) Start the Chart Portfolio.
2) Select [Tool] - [Option] in that order.
The Option panel opens.

3) Left-click the [S-63/AVCS] tab, and then, the [Import Cell Permit...] button.
The Find file panel opens.

4) Insert Cell Permit CD-ROM into the CD/DVD-ROM drive, and wait until it is ready to be read.
5) Select [Q:] (Q drive) from the Drive combo box (a) as shown below.

7) Double-click the file name of Cell Permit (such as PERMIT.TXT) in the File name list box (c).
Attention:
When Cell Permit is supplied in FD, insert it into the FD drive, and select [A:] (A drive).
When Cell Permit is supplied in E-mail, save Permit.txt file (Cell Permit) attached E-mail to the
USB memory.Connect the USB memory and select [F:] (F drive).
- Save only Permit.txt file to the USB memory.
-When Permit.txt file is compressed, decompress the compressed file, and then save to the
USB memory.
8) Check the file name, and left-click the [OK] button.
Check the file name you have selected.

9) As the Completed panel appears, left-click the [OK] button.

The display returns to the Option panel.

10) Check the number of chart license.

11) Repeat the above procedure from 3) to 10) to import the Cell Permit published by more than one data server.
12) Left-click the [OK] button to close the panel.
Import procedure of S-63 Cell Permit is completed.

2.4. Importing AIO data

AIO data CD can be gotten if you request to your chart provider. AIO data will be updated every week same as the
AVCS update CD. (But in some software version, the AIO function is not available.)
1) Start the Chart Portfolio.
2) Insert AIO data CD-ROM into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.
3) Select [Sort] - [AIO] in that order.
AIO chart list will appear in several minutes.

4) Left-click the [Import/Update] button.

The Import Condition panel opens.

5) Check that the import process is completed, and then, left-click the [Exit] button to exit Chart Portfolio.

4. Displaying AIO data

1) Startup Navigation & Planning
2) In the normal menu
Select [MENU] - [(6) Chart] - [(4) View AIO] in that order.

AIO is displayed when checkmark is ON. AIO is displayed by a red pattern as below.
(Change the object category to the [Other] on the display panel.)

Un-tick the [View AIO] menu not to display the AIO.

3) Right-click on the chart to confirm the detail of AIO, then select [S-57/C-MAP/ARCS Information] from the
context menu.
Then, the cross cursor changes to the box cursor (

).

4) Rotate the trackball, point the cursor to the object on the chart, and left-click the cursor.
Then, the Information panel opens according to the selected object.

To close the panel, left-click the [Close] button.

5) When an object has additional information, the name of the additional information will be displayed in the
combo box under the Information panel.
6) Select the information name to be displayed, then left-click the [Show]. The additional information will be
displayed.

To close the additional information, left-click the [Close]
