Modern Input Devices
In computing, an input device is a peripheral (piece
of computer hardware equipment) used to provide data and control signals
to an information processing system such as a computer or information
appliance. Examples of input devices
include keyboards, mouse, scanners, digital cameras and joysticks.

Importance of Input Devices

Input devices play a major role in the processing of any data via the
computer system because the output of the computer is always based on
the given input. Generally, data, which is given to the input devices, is
row. Therefore, it is the function of the input devices to manipulate the
raw data and then send it for further processing. The preparation of input
is the initial step in the creation of useful information.

Types of Input Devices

Mouse
Track Ball
Joy Stick
Scanner
Magnetic Ink
Character Recognisation (MICR)
Optical Character Reader (OCR)
Optical Mark Reader (OMR)
Bar Code Reader (BCR)
Speech Recognisation

Modern Output Devices
An output device is any device used to send data from a
computer to another device or user. Most computer data output
that is meant for humans is in the form of audio or video. Thus,
most output devices used by humans are in these categories.
Examples include monitors, projectors, speakers, headphones
and printers.

Importance of Output Devices

An output device refers to user-computer communication devices and
devices used for communication between computers, devices and other
peripherals, which may be used for input/output (I/O) purposes, like
network interface cards (NIC), modems, IR ports, RFID systems and
wireless networking devices, as well as mechanical output devices, like
solenoids, motors and other electromechanical devices.
